1 Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the CovrMeUp mobile application or web platform (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms apply to all users of the Service, including users of the mobile app, web admin panel, and REST API.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
2 Description of Service
CovrMeUp is a digital insurance card wallet that allows users to:
The Service supports the following insurance card categories: Health Insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Pharmacy (Rx), Auto Insurance, Homeowners Insurance, Life Insurance, Travel Insurance, Business Insurance, and Pet Insurance.
3 Eligibility
To use CovrMeUp, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction)
- Be a resident of the United States or a US territory
- Provide accurate, current, and complete registration information
- Have the legal authority to enter into these Terms
- Not be prohibited from using the Service under applicable law
By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet all eligibility requirements. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
4 Your Account
4.1 Registration
You must register for an account using a valid email address. You will receive a 6-digit OTP (One-Time Password) to verify your email address. Your account becomes active only after successful email verification.
4.2 Account Security
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password
- Your password must be at least 8 characters long
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account
- Never share your OTP codes with anyone — we will never ask for them
- Use a strong, unique password not used on other services
4.3 Account Accuracy
You agree to provide accurate and current information at registration and to keep your profile information up to date. Providing false information may result in account suspension or termination.
4.4 One Account Per Person
Each user may maintain only one active account. Creating multiple accounts is prohibited.
5 Permitted Use
You may use CovrMeUp only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. Permitted uses include:
- Storing your own legitimate insurance card information
- Scanning your own physical insurance cards
- Tracking your own insurance-related expenses
- Sharing your own card information with authorised parties (e.g., doctors, pharmacists)
- Accessing location-based features to find nearby healthcare facilities
- Managing your personal insurance portfolio
6 Prohibited Activities
- Store your own insurance cards
- Share cards with healthcare providers
- Scan your own physical cards
- Track your own expenses
- Export your own data
- Store someone else's cards without permission
- Submit fraudulent insurance information
- Use the app for insurance fraud
- Scrape or harvest other users' data
- Attempt to hack or reverse-engineer the app
- Create multiple fake accounts
- Misuse the card sharing feature
You also agree not to:
- Use the Service to commit identity theft or fraud
- Violate any applicable federal, state, or local laws or regulations
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts or our systems
- Use automated bots, scrapers, or crawlers on our platform
- Circumvent rate limiting or security measures
- Impersonate CovrMeUp staff or other users
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- Use our AI scanning feature to extract information from stolen cards
7 Your Content
7.1 Ownership
You retain full ownership of all insurance card data, images, and information you add to CovrMeUp ("Your Content"). We do not claim ownership of Your Content.
7.2 Licence to Us
By using the Service, you grant CovrMeUp a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
7.3 Accuracy
You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all information you enter. CovrMeUp is not responsible for errors in insurance coverage due to incorrect data entry.
7.4 No Medical or Legal Advice
8 Card Scanning Feature
The card scanning feature uses OpenAI's GPT-4o Vision API to extract text from insurance card images. By using this feature, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Your card image will be transmitted to OpenAI for processing
- OpenAI's zero data retention policy applies to API calls
- OCR extraction may not be 100% accurate — you must review all auto-filled fields before saving
- You are responsible for correcting any inaccurate extracted data
- You must only scan insurance cards that you own or have authorisation to scan
- We store both the original and processed versions of scanned images in your account
- You can delete scan history at any time from within the app
10 Expense Tracking
The expense tracking feature allows you to log insurance-related costs (premiums, copays, deductibles, etc.). You acknowledge that:
- Expense data is for personal record-keeping only
- CovrMeUp is not a financial advisor and expense data does not constitute tax, financial, or legal advice
- You should consult a qualified professional for tax deduction or financial planning questions
- Expense summaries are calculated based on the data you enter and may not reflect actual insurance costs
11 Location Services
The location-based features (finding nearby hospitals, pharmacies, and insurance resources) use your provided ZIP code and state. You agree that:
- Results are sourced from third-party public APIs (OpenStreetMap, Open-Meteo) and may not be complete or current
- CovrMeUp does not endorse any specific hospital, pharmacy, or healthcare provider
- In a medical emergency, always call 911 — do not rely on this app to locate emergency services
- Provider information may change — always verify directly with the facility
12 Intellectual Property
The CovrMeUp Service, including its design, code, features, logo, and content (excluding Your Content), is owned by CovrMeUp Inc. and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service, or reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the source code, unless you have our written permission.
The "covrmeup" name and logo are trademarks of CovrMeUp Inc. You may not use our trademarks without prior written consent.
13 Disclaimers
- Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Warranties regarding the accuracy of OCR-extracted insurance card data
- Warranties that information in the Service constitutes valid proof of insurance coverage
Important: The digital card data stored in CovrMeUp is for reference purposes only. Always carry your physical insurance cards or official digital cards issued by your insurer for official use. CovrMeUp cards may not be accepted as proof of insurance by all providers.
14 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CovrMeUp Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of data or information
- Damages resulting from inaccurate OCR extraction of insurance card data
- Damages resulting from reliance on the Service as proof of insurance coverage
- Damages resulting from unauthorised access to your account
- Damages from service interruptions or data loss
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or relating to the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) $100 USD or (b) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
15 Termination
15.1 By You
You may delete your account at any time from Profile Settings → Delete Account. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed within 30 days (subject to legal retention requirements).
15.2 By Us
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you:
- Violate these Terms of Use
- Engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
- Misuse the card scanning or sharing features
- Provide false registration information
We will attempt to notify you before termination unless prohibited by law or the circumstances require immediate action.
16 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except for claims eligible for small claims court.
You waive your right to participate in class action lawsuits against CovrMeUp to the fullest extent permitted by law.
